We just had to share this blog we just happened upon recently. Many of our clients are gluten sensitive and take great measures to make sure their foods don’t contain gluten.
However, gluten-free cooking is still not the norm. This blog called Unconventional Kitchen has some awesome ideas and recipes for those of you who are steering clear of gluten.
Here’s her recipe for gluten-free pumpkin cornbread, which would be great for a Thanksgiving potluck. At least there will be something you can enjoy!
Eat up and be well!

It’s no secret that unhealthy living shortens lives. This article by Healthy Science discusses a new study that shows that you can die younger (12 years to be exact) by combining unhealthy habits like:
- Eating less than 3 fruits and veggies a day
- Working out less than 2 times a week
- Having 2-3 alcoholic drinks per day
So, if you prefer to shorten your life, then combine the above for a perfect storm.
I like the author’s simple encouragement:
If you want to live longer, then live well, pay attention to nutrition and exercise, and if you smoke, quit and if you don’t, don’t start!

Alicia Sims-Mercado wrote this fantastic little article about the difference between our options of Diet, Lite, and Sugar Free Foods and Drinks.
We just had to share. Her family has been affected in a huge way by simple changes like this one. Food marketing can be quite tricky, so it’s nice when people like Alicia help us read between the lines and smoky mirrors.
So much of what we have been led to believe is actually a myth. Be careful and don’t get overwhelmed. Just take one step at a time toward healthy choices and find out how much better you begin to feel!

Our colleague Alicia Sims-Mercado wrote this great article on the dangers of supplements this week. Just because you’re taking a nutritional supplement doesn’t mean you’re doing your body any favors.
Unfortunately, it’s not standard to manufacture supplements according to Good Manufacturing Practices. And it’s not standard practice for supplement companies to have a quality assurance team or even research.
Read on. This is really helpful. Thanks, Alicia for providing such great content!
Remember. Take care of your body…It’s the ONLY one you’ve got!

If you’re concerned about your kids eating too much sugar, you may want to hear this.
A new study from Harvard shows that sodas and juices have very similar amounts of sugars.
So, we must treat the fruit juices as treats or as candy instead of staples.
Tips to get your kids to drink water:
Our small boys love water. However, I know of some parents who put a splash of juice into water to “spice it up” a bit if their kids don’t want just water.
At home, the rule is that we drink water unless there’s a birthday part or something really special. So, it’s not a fight. It’s just the norm to drink pure, clean, healthy water.
However, when our family goes out to eat, our 5 year old likes to drink Sprite. On occasion we will say yes but only if he drinks a substantial amount of water first.
Here’s the link to Jamie Oliver’s short video about the study and his own tips on how to get kids to drink water.

If you’re like me, family ranks top of the heap. I would do anything for them. We teach them about their Creator, we feed them good food, we show them how to love and care for others. And when it comes to sickness sometimes that’s in the hands of our family Doctor. We have a great pediatrician who helps with well visits and sickness. Being wellness industry for 12 years I know there are an array of doctors to choose from in the area for overall health. It’s hard to know if a doctor is a fit for our family unless we get treated by them.
I have been all over Dallas trying to find the perfect doctor: One who understands my desire for wholeness and someone who can help with nutrition and make recommendations for treatments. I’m happy to say I’ve met her. Dr. Ridley focuses on getting to the root cause in the body so you don’t just live, but live well!
Dr. Jennifer Ridley is a caring individual, outstanding woman, and a well rounded physician. She takes time to talk with me about what I want my health to be and how she can assist me in getting there. She often says, “We’re in this together!”
Dr. Ridley is the founder and practicing physician at LiveWell Chiropractic Health & Wellness Center in the Northeast Tarrant County (Hurst). Dr. Ridley incorporates the latest technologies into treating her patients overall health by specializing in chiropractic care, decompression therapy and functional medicine. This includes utilizing specific full spine adjusting, activator methods, and torque release. She also offers unique services:

Neurotransmitter Testing & Brain Support
Nutritional and Supplemental Counseling including Mannatech, Standard Process, Metagenics and Xymogen.
Jennifer Ridley, DC, CCCN attended Texas A&M University and UT Southwestern Medical School of Allied Health, where she graduated summa cum laude with a degree in medical technology. She graduated Valedictorian from Parker Chiropractic College with a post-graduate specialty in neurology. Dr. Ridley continued intensive training to become a certified functional medicine doctor. This is where her philosophy may differ from that of a traditional medical practitioner because her diverse training enables her to draw on multiple disciplines as she develops a unique wellness plan for each patient. These treatments are designed specifically to help patients get out of pain, improve their nutritional status, lose weight, optimize their brain function and find alternative solutions to chronic disease. She’s no ordinary Doctor!
Dr. Ridley knew she wanted to be a doctor when she witnessed her grandparents pass away from complications to medications. She takes her practice and her knowledge as a physician seriously and works hard to share it around the world with those less fortunate. She has done mission work in India where she used her skills to provide hope and healing to people of all ages who otherwise have NO access to healthcare.
I have personally benefited from Dr. Ridley’s services of food allergy testing, adrenal testing and injury rehabilitation. I haven’t been able to do push ups on my wrists since high school and managed to get by in boot camp on my fingertips! I had too much scar tissue due to injuries as a cheerleader. After just two simple and inexpensive treatments with Dr Ridley I can now do push ups on my wrist with no weakness and no pain! She has helped many of my clients and family members achieve desired results from helping ear infections disappear in 24 hours to relieving back pain and allergies. I highly recommend you call her today for an overall approach to your family’s health.

Who of you will take the USDA’s advice and eat your 10-12 servings of fruits and veggies today? Most people can barely say two–and French fries and ketchup do not count!
To compensate for how we eat, most Americans take some sort of vitamin and are opening multiple bottles of individual vitamins such as vitamins C, B12, and D. But plants in nature don’t have isolated ingredients. So, it works best for us to get our nutrition from REAL food.
Here’s an irony: We are now turning petroleum into vitamins and minerals and we harvest corn and turn it into fuel. Somewhere we got confused.
The body knows what to do with plants. It has no idea what to do with black tar or minerals from the ground no matter how small they are ground up. So, instead our stomachs just churn it over and over trying to break it down. It’s no wonder that many people complain of upset stomachs from taking a multi-vitamin and mineral. So it’s not worth your $4 to get cheap vitamins from the grocery store. They are not real food.
So, would you rather eat rocks or real food?
PhytoMatrix is an all-natural real food vitamin and mineral made from plants. It’s the ONLY one like it on the market with plant-sourced minerals from hydroponics. That means that an Indian mustard plant is grown in a controlled and pure solution of vitamins and minerals. Then, the plant is harvested and turned into a caplet. It even has standardized phytonutrients.
Help your loved ones save time and money by encouraging them to take Mannatech’s real food multi-vitamin & mineral that has it all.
If you like details and comparison charts, you get that in a booklet about how to evaluate vitamins and minerals here.

Today I’d like to tell you about Mannatech’s flagship product. Ambrotose complex starts with the many benefits of natural raw aloe vera. Then, it’s combined with other natural food sources and a revolutionary processing method which stabilizes the functional component in aloe. This patented technology has been clinically shown to increase immune support and improve cognitive brain function, like memory. I believe that EVERY Wellness plan should start with Ambrotose complex. If you have 20 minutes, you can view this terrific documentary about the story of Ambrotose.
Next is another patented Mannatech product called PhytoMatrix. Just about everyone (including most doctors and nurses today) knows the benefits of taking a vitamin and mineral supplement. Our fast food diets, combined with depleted soils, make taking supplements a MUST. But, as I said earlier, did you know that most vitamins and minerals today are filled with synthetic ingredients that are derived from coal or petroleum? But, your body was designed to eat FOOD, not chemicals and rocks. That’s where Mannatech can help.
Using REAL FOOD technology solutions, Mannatech’s PhytoMatrix is the FIRST supplement to offer natural plant-sourced vitamins and plant sourced minerals with standardized phytonutrients. In other words, PhytoMatrix is based on REAL FOOD. I don’t have time to tell the whole story, but as an example Mannatech uses a mustard plant, grown in a hydroponic solution that is filled with highly concentrated minerals to derive the plant sourced minerals. The end result is the BEST vitamin and mineral supplement that money can buy.
The last product I want to talk about deals with fat loss. Do you know anyone who could use a little help with trimming some fat around the edges? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Just about everyone. Recently, Mannatech introduced a Whey protein supplement called OsoLean powder that contains a patented natural peptide technology that literally works with your body to burn that fat right off. This product is NOT one of those products that is filled with stimulants and other short term fad ingredients.
OsoLean powder is filled with natural, healthy ingredients that have been scientifically validated to burn fat! The results from our clients have been amazing!!
Add all that up… (and remember those are just a few of our many products), Mannatech practically has the Wellness industry cornered. If you have any interest in improving your health, looking younger, or losing some fat… you have to give Mannatech’s products a try! And don’t forget, Mannatech offers a full 6 month satisfaction guarantee. What do you have to lose??
Come back Monday to hear learn about Real Possibilities and how you can self-fund your wellness program.
